...It's easy when you are big in Japan...

Hello again, time to write some stuff again ;)
As you all might know (if you read my posts regularly, which you SHOULD!!!) I am in Osaka, Japan right now. Taking part in a workshop about crystalography, as a teacher (sounds weird, I know).
Before I start writing/ranting, here is a link to the pics I have taken here:
2010-11-5-17_Osaka_Japan

Nice, aren't they? As you can see, there is shitloads of weird food to be eaten here, weird shops to check out and generally be freaked/flashed by all this japanese style of live and so on.

I know, that all looks pretty weird, somewhat disgusting even...but trust me, those squid-jerky things are awesome!!! Even that weird thing in between the sweets with has the squid on it is great ;) The japanese people seem to love tentacles, they eat them, they fry them, they dry them, they even put them into their hentais (managporn, where manga chicks get fucked by big aliens with even meaner tentacles...into all possible orifices). Maybe that some kinda compensation for other (real-life) tentacles that are not really what we'd call "big"...or "average"...or..."satisfying". Yeah I am still full of shit and prejudices ;)
Burgers with Terriyaki are also quite good, but they have no idea how to serve that stuff not burning hot.

Ah, and besides this weird food, everything in this country is pink and bubble-gummy...EVERYTHING!!! Look at those pics (and they have a serious gambling problem):

...even the toilets...but, they are heated ;)

Another awesome thing - animals become moviestars around here...there are shitloads of DVDs of cats/dogs who got viral on youtube...full length movies of their life!!!

The biggest star right now seems to be the cat MARU (movies: I am Maru, I am Maru 2, there will certainly be I am Maru and I can use a toilet)...Maru has great skills, he can hide in boxes...and he is rather fat...

P.S. All the languages about japanese people not speaking english are true...I sometimes feel like a deafmute ;)

short summary and outlook ;)

Busy weeks, 2nd TAC meeting (yearly evaluation of my PhD) is done, everything looks peachy ;)
Right after that, I presented my stuff on a conference (ECCB, European Conference on Computational Biology). Sadly/luckily, this conference was in Gent, Belgium...Fuck, the belgian beer gets you really pissed...and fuckingly fast! Never drink more than 5 of them...after 2liters I couldn't walk properly nor see straight...and I had to do a talk 8h later ;) Other than that, we got nice fries every day with every meal...rather stereotypical, but I didn't mind.

Some nice concerts in the last two weeks, the mighty Kassierer and Pendulum. Both awesome, in their very own way ;) (Kassierer - ugly naked people on the stage and Assipunk, Pendulum - the best live drum'n'bass ever !!!)

Now it's time for more work, my stuff has to be finalized in 4 weeks, cuz then I will lecture about it in a workshop in Osaka, Japan!!!

...bohrende fragen - pressing questions...

Komischer Tag heute...
Hat viele Fragen aufgeworfen...hier einige davon...

1.) Warum wollen Leute in Veddel Klaas aufs Maul hauen?

- finden kleine Idioten dicke, nuttige Maedchen dann geiler?

4.) Warum ist creolisches Huehnchen so lecker?
4.1) Warum schmelzen Gummibaerchen wenn man sie frittiert?

Bitte sinnvolle Antworten als Kommentare hier rein ;)

Argh

Just a few seconds of hate:
Just took Silke to the airport and thought I could go to jungfernstieg on my way back to get some Indian food...
Well once I got out of the subterranean it struck me that it's alstervergnuegen...well I was more struck by the massive amount of retards walking around...I liked the people clothed in black at schanzenfest better, I think...
The real clusterfuck: after squeezing to several tons of retards, I got to the Indian place and it was closed due to the fucking alstervergnuegen!!!

I should stay at home and work...what now? Subway?

Close to catastrophy...

Wow...adrenaline is still pumping!
Just nearly lost my iPhone...got out of the cab at Bayreuth Hauptbahnhof...got my stuff from the trunk...cab left...and my phone was gone...looked around...nothing...ran after the cab...got him after 200m at a traffic light...not in the cab! Ran back, nothing where I left the cab either...so what now? Asked th next person if I cloud use her phone...called myself AND someone picked up ;)
A nice lady found it and took it, since otherwise someone would surely have stolen it...then she brought it back to me...

So, nice lady from Bayreuth, thank you sooo much again! You made a person VERY happy today!!!

Drinking all over Germany...

Ah...this is a great week...just been in Heidelberg for four days...student rep retreat and labday...awesome! Meeting friends from the predoc course and such! And rght now I am in Bayreuth at some student party with philip k. :)
Fun fun fun!

The End...LOST, no more

For me it all started during some serious cold in April 2005. I watched the pilot of LOST on German TV one or two days ago (the bald headed guy was dubbed using Cpt. Picards voice...again...), since I thought it might be an interesting show I had already downloaded about 15 episodes over the last few months...
To be honest, I wasn't that hooked after the German-dubbed pilot, but decided to use the time I had to lie in bed for something meaningful and started watching another episode of LOST...that was around 10pm...then came another episode, and another,...I finished at 6am and ~10 episodes later...
I was hooked!!!

For the next five years, I was looking forward to every new episode of LOST...and even more to every season finale or premiere. LOST became even more interesting, after I got my HDTV...better than watching a movie.

There have been so many moment LOST moved me or left me sitting on the couch with my mouth open. The first flash forward...the opening and explosion of the hatch...Locke in a coffin...Locke alive again...1977...the bomb(s)...and most of the flash sideways....

Yesterday it left me crying, yeah LOST, welcome to my list of TV shows of which I finished watching the finale crying. STAR TREK-TNG, Babylon5, Six Feet Under and NipTuck...seems like a good neighborhood...But honestly, [Spoiler (mark text to read):] how fucking awesome was the last scene, Jack lying down to die, Vincent running towards him, lying down next to him, the ajira-plane flying away...and finally Jack's eye closing...still giving me the shivers...

And, yeah, there is a shitload of question still unanswered...but hey, this means we can discuss and theorize for the rest of our lives ;)
Also, there is some serious gap left for novel and maybe another movie, I would be really looking forward to something like that.
Oh, I want the complete series on BluRay!!! Birthday...in five months...remember it ;)

If this is really the end, seems like It is time to let go...

The ashcloud, friend or foe?

After €20 - burgers, buckets full of shrimps and missing darkness at night, it was time to go back home again today.
As the news hungry ones of you might already have heard, there were about five airports closed today...and as fate wanted it, one of them was Amsterdam, my transferairport for today...
However, it didn't come out as fucked up as the last two times...I am now sitting in a nice lufthansa jet en route to hamburg...and I will only be five hours (not 14 or 5 days) late today ;)

...I cannot get rid of the feeling that someone doesn't want me to fly...

iPad at Schiphol!

Woohoooo...you can already buy iPads at schiphol airport...for the cheap price of 800 euros...for 16gb...or 900 for 32gb...wifi, not 3G, obviously...
What a ripoff!

Location:Schiphol airport, Amsterdam

A few seconds of HATE!

The ashcloud wasn't the worst thing to happen to air-traffic in germany...
There is one known to be even worse, and that is - FOOTBALL FANS!!!

I wanted to fly to Norway to visit Silke who's there for work. It started all pretty funny, everywhere there were those Fulham fans in their KIA jerseys. It got even funnier, when the Hamburg S-Bahn sign at the Airport showed "FULHAM FANS=this train!"...no comment...
The fun started to stop quite soon...my plane was 1h delayed...so my transfer time in Schiphol decreased from 90min to 30min.
Wouldn't have been too bad...but since I am sitting in a stranded passenger hotel in Amsterdam, it didn't work out like that...

So, now the big question is why...was there some delay because of the ashcloud? Did someone kidnap a plane? Or anything serious?

NOOOO!!!

Airtraffic was dead cuz of the fucking football game...HAM closed done a complete landing strip to use it as a PARKING PLACE for the airtaxis that got the football fans here and back...

So, ALL the scheduled flights where delayed for up to 3.5h (my flight) just so the FUCKING fans could get home conveniently...

SOUNDS FUCKED UP, BUT IT's FUCKING TRUE!!!!

I HATE FOOTBALL!!!!

ARGGGHHHH!!!!!

The long way home...

Part I: Ejafuck...what?
It started all on April the 15th, on the nice island of Grand Bahama, we were listening to the news on ndr2 via livestream...there was something about some weird Icelandic volcano that erupted a few hours ago and was spitting ash into the air. We joked about Silke not getting to Norway the next Monday, because there might be some problem with the airspace...
Then we got into our rental car to bring it back to the agency and bring driven to te airport.

Part II: Eyjafjuklallalalu?
At the airport we got smarter...well, at least we asked whether there might be a chance for our flight to Amsterdam to be grounded/cancelled - "no, no, it's gonna fly!"...hence, we started our journey back to Hamburg. Funny thing on the side, if you fly from the Bahamas back to the states, you immigrate on the island...so, when you board the plane, you are already in the states. This will be quite important later on ;)
Nice flight from Freeport to Atlanta, no turbulences, nothing...once we gout out at Atlanta, the fun started...Amsterdam was cancelled...because of an ash cloud that was forming over Europe thanks to the volcano...funnily, of this time (2pm, 15/04) it was the only flight cancelled. We started trying to get some information...can we switch to another plane, maybe to Frankfurt whatever? When we got to the international terminal (after complete inability of all delta-desk agents at the other terminal to help us) the line for the "proper" desk was already fucking long...we were standing in line for like 4 hours...people to Frankfurt, Duesseldorf and Munich were allowed to go to their gates and leave...as time went on more and more planes were grounded.
When we finally got to the desk (which was another desk somewhere else they sent us) we got a nice standby flight to Frankfurt the next day and a confirmed flight home via Paris five days later...
We got a hotel and went to Ruby Tuesday to make the best out of the fucked up day...

Part III: Eyjafja...la...lo...ku?
Friday morning, first thing -> checking the live-ticker about news from the ash.
Aaaaand? Frankfurt was closed...no flight today...on the other hand, this also meant no standing in lines and waiting for not getting a seat on the standby flight.
So I booked us two new hotel rooms until Tuesday and we went to the airport to get our luggage back...
We didn't think it'll be easy to get it, big airport, many grounded flights...but it should be there on the next day...so, we thought...
First trip into Atlanta then, checking out the city and so on...not un-nice...went to the apple store, tried to buy an iPad...sold out, so we reserved two...
Some burgers, we had to exploit the nice US cuisine, and back to the airport to get our bags back...
And guess what, after 10h there wasn't even one suitcase, bag or whatever...fun...let's go home and get some sleep...

Part IV: Eyjafjälläjüköll...
For the next three days we went to the airport every morning and evening...and each morning there was a bag waiting for us...
Looking for flights didn't make any sense since the whole of European airspace was completely shut down...
Saturday, my duffel bag...sadly...no underwear for Silke or me...but, yeah, flip-flops and some dirty shirts...at least...down to H&M to get some underwear...and then some nice food and beers...
Sunday, this morning Sushi was allowed to go into the small storage and look whether one of our bags was already there...he came out with my seabag and nothing else...menage we got our whole luggage...Sushi and Nadine had nothing...didn't make me feel good...we used this day to check out the worlds biggest aquarium (nice otters!!! And cool large size fishes...and sea mammals) and the world of coca cola (shit, patriotic shit...but testing 64 varieties of coke was interesting)...afterwards...Hooters!!! Nice chicken wings, but it didn't live up to the expectations...food and boob wise...might be due to all four of us being there...wireless men were greeted nicely and shit ;)
Ah, that evening, we also got told that the flights to Frankfurt and Duesseldorf had to turn around in the middle of their routes, since the airports got magically closed in between...
Monday, finally Nadine's bag...Aaaaaand we got an email from the apple store that we could come and get our iPads!!! So, it was a good day, with some sushi and beers in the evening...also, there one flight going to Amsterdam and Paris again...two of both destinations were cancelled...but at least a chance...
Anxious to get back home...

Part V: Eyjafjallajökull (yeah, got it right!!!)
So, Tuesday morning...checkout of the hotel...and...no bag waiting for Sushi...fucked up shit...only retards working for delta and the baggage claim in Atlanta...
BUT: our flight really started!!! Okay flight until Paris...stupid little cunts sitting right behind Silke and me...always kicking our seats...I hope your next boyfriends fuck you in the ass in an unpleasant way, little French girls...
After we landed I got aggressive...which was only due to fucking Charles de Cock!!! The most fucked up airport ever!!!
And I learned something new...they ain't got toilet seats on the male toilets!!!! Just those fucking paper seats...and if you try to put three of them above each other, the fucking toilet flushes and takes them with you...hard time shitting...fucking Paris!

However, they really got us home...the Hamburg flight also flew! And we were really the first KLM / Air France / Delay flight to touch down in hamburg for six days...woooohoooo!
After we got home, we went out again for grocery shopping...I was never so happy to walk somewhere while it's hailing ;) Back in Hamburg!!!!
YEAH!!!

P.s. We slept 15h that night ;)

Location:Bahamas - Atlanta - Paris, CDG - Hamburg

extended holiday...

still in atlanta...we changed the hotel (cheaper one, and two rooms ;), and settled with getting back on Tuesday...hopefully...it still does not seem like the ashcloud will be gone until then...
Today we also got our first piece of luggage back, more to follow today (or later...maybe...).

So we will make the best of our time, I tried to buy an iPad, sadly they were all gone yesterday, so I reserved one, maybe I'll get it before Tuesday ;) There is also a big aquarium here in Atlanta (the worlds largest, to be precise), I think we'll visit that...

So, wish me luck that we'll get back to Europe at least this week ;)

Lost in transit...

You guys probably have heard about the ashcloud...mist of you might have already seen ;)

I might not see it at all...we wanted to fly back from the Bahamas to Hamburg via Atlanta...well, Almost nothing is flying to Europe...we got rebooked and our next confirmed flight will be on Tuesday...however we will be on standby for a flight each day until we get one...

But things aren't so grim...the weather here is very good and we found a very nice hotel, where we got a cheap four bedroom suite ;)
And we are off to get some nice dinner :) meeeeaaaat!

Swimming with dolphins!!!

Usually I am way too chilled to post something around here, but today is a special occasion!
We were just out swimming/diving when we suddenly saw some fins in the water...at first there was some commotion whether that might be a shark, but when we saw that there were more than one and they were jumping it was quite obvious, that they were dolphins.

So we got back out and swam with them, they got pretty close and you could hear them all the time underwater. Sadly, no one touched one, but hey, WHATEVER ;)

Ah, I also swam with Marley our nice neighborhood cow-dog a few minutes earlier ;)

AIR France, Fuck YOU!!!...again...

As most of you might know, I am on holiday, currently in New York City, from Friday on on the Bahamas ;)
Just a few quick facts:
As you might recall - I hated AIR France after coming back from Frisco using their airline. This time I thought by going via a fancy new A380 everythings gonna be better...
Well, the pkane was nice, really nice, even in economy.
However, there was one serious problem (again): Ze FRENCH!!!
Fucking retards, even their pilots cannot speak proper english...you couldn't understand FUCK of what he was saying over the speakers...
Charles de Gaulle was a bloody mess again, and fucking stewardesses at check-in served french people waiting behind me in line before serving me!
FUCK!

However, now all is gonna be fine...well besides all the germans here in the hostel...

P.S. Worst turbulences ever today on the flight, people were puking around me...

I'm not obese anymore!!!

For everyone who I didn't bother with it yet: I'm on diet...
Silke started doing Weight Watchers again in January and forced me to eat the same low-fat / low-cal stuff as she did...
At first I was slightly reluctant...but after 2,3 weeks I realized that eating less and healthier really works ;) So I started to cut short on sweets, sugary stuff, beer, fat and calories (I still drink and eat a burgers...just less and not that often).
AAAAAND...I lost almost 10kg as of today, from ~105 kg to 95.5 kg (For Joe: way too many stones to still to many stones, but okayish)...This on the other hand means my BMI went below 30 (BMI is bullshit but still ;)

So, 10kg are lost, at least 10 more to go. Let's hope the holiday doesn't fuck up everything ;)

...deutsche Werbung...

Was kommt als naechstes?

Research in Chavism?

Nice thing at the supermarket today...I was standing at the checkout...looking around...and what did I see??? A really retarded Chav (auf deutsch - assi) with a bellybag, silver chain around his neck, shaved head...aaaaaand a sweater which had written "RESEARCH" above the chest;)

Research in what? Anatomy of bitches? Advanced head-shaving? Social exclusion of bellybag-wearers?

Sackgeld in der Schluckstube versaufen...

So, heute mal was lustiges fuer alle die deutsch sprechen (sorry my illiterate english friends, but this wont be funny for you ;)

Weit gefehlt, SM steht hier fuer Schweizer Meisterschaften (etwas komisch, ja...).

Was gabs sonst noch?

In 2,3h gehts zurueck ins eisige Hamburg...brrr....

italian music

Do you know the feeling if you are at an italian place, being completely annoyed be the fucked up italian music? Then suddenly you are completely happy because you know and like one of the songs, just to realize a second later that you just like the SCOOTER-remake?

No?

k...than I must be a weird guy...

Happy new ... whatever

Uuuuhhh...we got us a new decade...
Quite some stuff happened in the last one, I really wonder if the new will also bring so many new, interesting things.
Plans so far:
- getting some collaborations with SwissModel (going to Basel in two weeks)
- going to the Bahamas for holiday and meeting the sailors ;)
- going to Trondheim (Silke will be working there)

I think everyone realised by now, that I have nothing interesting to say, just drivelling...
So, let's close this new decades first post...
More blabla by the time something important happens...

Fuck.Brussels!

Got a little game for you today:
Imagine visiting the proposed capital of glorious Europe...wouldn't you expect a bunch if openminded, nice, helpful and friendly and to some extent clean-ish people?

I bet you would...

Now do the same though-experiment again, but change the bigger part of the citys inhabitants to idiots whose first language is gay French...
And yeah, there goes being openminded, nice, friendly and helpful...
No one speaks any English, people will just run into you on the street if you don't jump out of their way fast enough, oh, and some of them will get really angry and offended if you try to ask something nicely in English..
For example, the guy at the metrostation who is supposed to sell you tickets, because their fucking ticket machines never work, got really pissed off, when we did not understand his French mumbling...the retard did not get that holding two fingers up meant "we want two of your precious tickets!"... I think even cavemen would get that...

Some other nice fact about ticket machines...imagine a main train station in a big capital where the only way to pay for your train tickets at night is some indigenous bank card...no credit card, EC, maestro nothing...oh and imagine a pile of shit lying next to this machine...
E voilà! Welcome to Brussels!

Okay, there were also a few positive things:
- very good fries and fried meatballs
- awesome chocolate
- good electro music and a nice lightshow at the evening on grand places Xmas market (ever seen a church light up with electrotunes before?)

And everyone at the airport was nice and friendly, however I took some closer looks at their name tags...and none their names sounded French...all very flamish!

Let me end my few paragraphs of hate with this:
PEOPLE OF FLANDERN!
Get rid of Wallonia! Just give it to France ;) And ban French by law! Then you are welcome to host the European capital ;)

EDIT: Ha, the wallonian Steward was the same from my flight into Brussels, he rembered me and talked to me during the flight...
Maybe some if them are nice and friendly...hard to find, though ;)

TV HaCkS0R

YEAH!
Our new bedroom TV arrived yesterday...did some stupid browsing about how to change the channels...and what did I find???

There are ways to make this TV being able to play all kinds of movies via USB, usually only the €250 more expensive one is able to do that...
However, there is a a secret menu, where you can tell my TV that it is that more expensive one...now it thinks exactly that and plays fucking DIVX movies ;)

Tomorrow I will hack 127.0.0.1!!!!

Cambridge_fun

ah...the predoc course (basic bioinformatics, thanks ;) is over....so I had a nice day of shopping and meeting people tonight...

Got some Blu-Rays, Games and Books, all cheaper than in germany, yay!

About tonight, we went for food to a nice tapas place, had a 50% off voucher...and had a feast for 14pounds each ;)
Welcome to britain, I like ye still ;)

Later that night we went to michelle for drinks and than my cultural programm started...we went to "the fountain" presumably the pub with the most amount of retard unemployed townspeople in cambridge...wasn't that fancy at first...but then ine guy started harrasing the girl who were with us (one of them being one year younger than my dad...didnt have to feel old, yeah!) touching them on their asses, there might also have been some tit-grabbing...

After some time, joe told the doorman who showed the guy his way out...but it didnt stop there...that dude didnt know when it was over...so they had to pin him to the ground and later call the police, who in the end, arrested him...

so, congrats joe...you cant grow a moustache, but you can get someone arrested like magnum p.i. ;)

okay...to much strong cider...off to bed now, tomorrow back to the girlfriend, looking soooo much forward to it!!!

...warum geht Karstadt nur pleite...?

1. Antwort (Armer kleiner Junge, der an der Kasse steht):
"Hier steht er!"
- ...das is ne DVD...
"Oh, dann fragen sie mal meinen Kollegen da hinten."

2. Antwort (Dicker, schwitzender Mann, von da hinten):
"Den gibts nicht auf BLU-Ray!"
- ...Aeh, doch, bei Amazon, Media Markt, usw. -
"Ne, ich habe im System nachgeguckt, glauben sie mir, das sind nur DVDs."
- ...(irritiert, warum der Mann keinen Plan hat)...Ne ne...das sind BLU-Rays...
"(angepisst, unfreundlich) NEIN, BEI UNS GIBTS DEN NICHT!"

Assiumschlagbahnhof

DESYs idea of Germany...

...No change since Ocotober 1989 ;)

...does it mean something, that one of the most important german science centres never acknowledged the unicifaction?
Or are there too many "Die PARTEI" members working here ;) ?

Trying to teach at EMBL HD...

...today, I will teach some biologists how to use PERL for stupid biology tasks...
I am curious if they will understand anything...

Well, I will try to do that...but things seem to not be working properly here...the computers are not ready, my lecture was postponed for half an hour...and like 5 minutes ago, a chinese guy came into the room and asked in very broken english, whether i might be the person to help him to get a german bank account...

err...yes, i am...send all your money to my account, i will deduct 50% and put the rest on your nice new bank account ;)

The real bank guy was in the next room...poor EMBL HD ppl...they force them to get an account at the Sparkasse...couldn't they get a real bank ;) ?

Presents from France

Ahhh...was this a nice PhD retreat in shabby France...little sleep, too much sun and the perfect amount of fun ;)

Sadly, there is something not so perfect I took home with me...seems like those french bastards gave me something inferior to eat...at least my system can't work that stuff out...the toilet has become my most favorite place in the last three days...and today the doctor certified me sick for two more days...
let's hope the symbiotic relationship between me and the ceramic bowl has been discontinued until then...

Was daran witzig war?

stockholm fun

I am at the 3d-structures satellite meeting of the international bioinformatics conference right now...
not that interesting for the most of you I think...the interesting part is that I am in stockholm...
as the clichees tell us, swedish girls dress strangely (at least in summer, and we got around 27degrees right now)...they wear always either very short hotpants, or even shorter skirts (for germans, belts...)...

right now i am sitting in my hotel room (pretty drunk) with the window open...and right around the corner there is a disco...

the swedisch girls (with those short skirts) are singing wind of change...
if this wind comes from below, they got a big problem ;)

Back to civilisation...

I really don't know why...but coming back to hamburg from strange areas like southern Germany always makes me feel very sentimental... It's just better here ;)

Oh, and about the civilisation, I heard a very weird conversation on the toilet in Frankfurt while trying to get rid of the apfelwein again:
There where like three bachelors parties going on in that place...of the bad kind...with villageidiots having printed shirts for each other and annoying the bystanders by trying to sell them some shit...one of the guy with the worst, really almost not understandable, accent was saying:
" you know, the German language dies...way to many English words and stuff..."
...and then it came...
"people like me speaking perfect understandable German are dying out" (!!!!????!!!!)

WTF?????

Frankfurt is a beauty...

...NOT!
This is like the most ugly city ever!
Imagine taking the worst parts of Berlin an Hamburg, merge them, add a few skyscrapers and voilà...you puke once you leave the hotel!
...more on Labday and Frankfurt later...

Bauer sucht Frau in Bayern...

Seit 60h kein Mobiltelefon....super super...

Another Step...

...completely forgot to mention that my first TAC meeting was last Friday...for all normal people (e.g. non-EMBLists) TAC means Thesis Advisory Comittee; 4-5 very important people who meet 3 times during the PhD to assess the stuff I am doing.

After 4 weeks of hard work, trying to get results out of the strange pile of ideas in my head...I even managed to put a real talk together, which worked out quite well ;)

So, as it seems, the road to the PhD is getting shorter and shorter....

JJ's STAR TREK

I just came back from the cinema watching the new STAR TREK movie.
I exactly felt like the little 14yr old boy in 1996, when I left the cinema where I watched the last awesome Trek movie - FIRST CONTACT.

And this movie might even be better, I need to watch it more often!!!

...and Karl Urbans McCoy was really the best, Peggs Scotty comes close ;)

Last Feasts in Berkeley ;)

before all this air france shit came down on me, i had two last nice days in berkeley ;)
we drank nice tequilla (patron, very good, you dont even need lemons) and had awesome steaks!!! 4lb (pounds) for $11.75!!!

In germany, this would have been 4-5 times the price

This was my steak, I got the biggest one ;)

Hm...medium rare!!!

...and this is us after the bottle of patron...look at axels face...

Next morning we had the steak leftovers (from Axel and Lina, I didnt leave anything ;), bacon, tomatoes and eggs for breakfast, on the roof ;)

Bacon, Steak and Tomato

... in front of Berkeley and the Golden Gate Bridge ;)

ah...and lets not forget the mutant fox squirrels ;) The beasts get around 50cm long...without tail!!! BTW...this picture was number 666 on my camera...coincidence?

Fuck paris, fuck Charles de Gaulle and rape Air france!!!

Yesterday, I made my way back from the states...until now I can just say one thing: never, ever if avoidable fly air France!!! In comparison to klm it was complete shut... Extremely little space, even for my small legs, bad food, ridicously small screens(like 4") and annoying French announcements...<br>
oh, and you're even more lucky if a frenchman sits next to you...they're impolite: mine asked me if he could sit at the window...fuck! I get my seat in advance on purpose!!! And don't think they're gonna share the middle armrest... Oh, btw my Frenchman also couldn't speak proper English (grande nation, my ass!) and he smelled really bad, even before takeoff!
The Paris airport is even worse... I think walked like a mile to get to my connecting flight...and people speaking that gaytarded language everywhere!!!

If the next flight attendant also starts speaking to me in French, I'll plan the next war!

P.S. the flight was also really well climatized...I have a fucking cold now!

WTF????&nbsp;

Buying beer at Safeways

Yesterday we bought beer at safeways...this again shows the weirdo-factor of this country...
I am already used to showing my ID every time I buy shallow beer (haven't done this at home for like 10, 11 yrs now ;)
But yesterday it got even weirder...they told me that in the future safeways is not gonna accept foreign IDs anymore...
Hey, my german ID is like 10 times more unforgeable than american ones...with holograms and all that awesome european shit...and everything is even written there in english !!!

Retarded, just retarded...only the great american IDs are good, everything else is shit...

Narnia in Piss

Something I wanted to write for quite some time...when I flew here I watched the new Narnia movie on the plane...
There is something quite funny about it...when the retarded children come back to Narnia the filming location is Cathedral Cove on the Coromandel Peninsula in New Zealand...
A place where Ax, Simon, Scott and me swam out to the first big rock an pissed into the water (looking at the endless pacific ocean in front of us)...
So you can say, the beginning of the new Narnia movie was filmed in our piss ;)

P.S. the film is complete crap otherwise...
P.P.S. going to "the city" now to look at nice hippie areas ;)

2009 - 03 - 10 - Pendulum Concert in San Francisco!!!

Yesterday we went to the Pendulum concert in San Francisco. I just got to know them like 3 months ago and they were playing in SF while I am here. As you see below, the venue was awesome! The Gran Ballroom at the Regency Center, which was really a ballroom, with chandeliers and everything!

The concert was awesome!!! Many different kinds of people, who all had a very good time (sorry for the shitty pics btw, only had my iphone on me)

The people (and band) went totally crazy when they were playing SLAM, if you dont know it, youtube is your friend, you should check it out ;)

After the concert was finished (they played almost everything from the two albums as well as other things, like their awesome remix of prodigys voodoo people, my favorite!) we went to a diner to replenish our power ;) I went for an awesome burger, 12 oz., almost 350g of meat!!!
So I also got my real american diner experience now...

2009 - 03 - 09 - "The City", Pier 39, Chinatown...

San Francisco Port Clock tower

Awesome Black Angus Steak Sandwich at Quizzno

Chinatown

Alcatraz - The Rock

Awesome Sea Lions at Pier 39

2009 - 03 - 06,07,08 - Road Trippin' - Alameda, San Francisco, Point Reyes, Pacifica

You can find all pictures in picasa (click this picture ;)

Our road trip started quite cool, we visited the Nimitz air field in Alameda, full of awesome plane carriers and ohter ships ;)
Then we went to "the city" - San Francisco...aaaand found a IN-N-OUT burger !!!...well nice breakfast...but it cost us about $60, cause we were to cheap to feed the parkmeter properly (we came back 3min late...and had a $50 ticket on our windshield)...

2009 - 03 - 05 Josh Blue at UC Berkeley

On my 2nd day in Berkeley, we went to a comedian named josh blue...
Awesomely funny guy! Always making fun of gays and cripples...well he is partially allowed to since he is "special" himself...he has cerebral palsy, which for all you uneducated people means he is a spastic ;)
Nevertheless, awesome show, very funny guy!
Check him out on YouTube!!!

P.s. Since the show was on the UC Berkeley campus, the gig was full of children...19, 20yr olds ;)

just on short notice...

i know how much you all like the pictures i am taking all over the world, and since i don't have that much time to write: here are a few new nice ones ;)

hot dogs from 7-eleven are tasty but not healthy for you colon...

in frisco we found the dudes heaven...

double cheseeburger and fries "animal style"

this was even worth a parking ticket (more info later)

Next escape...

Yeah, i am finally away from germany again ;)
right now i am sitting in the bed in axels room in berkeley, ca in the united states! 11:30 already, we should start doing something soon...
i arrived yesterday around 1pm at san francisco airport..getting into the states is really much easier than i though, or everyone told me...besides standing in line it took me around 3 minutes ;)

and really...everything here is totally clichelike and much bigger than in europe...university buildings, cars, people (big meaning fat ;) oh and the squirrels are twice as big as in germany...which is slightly weird ;)

okay, time to start the day, which would likely mean running through berkeley for me...

p.s. flying to the states in comparison to new zealand is a joke, an 11h flight...ts ts ts...oh, and flying over the arctic rocks big time!!!

Concert weekend - between the two best cities in Germany

Been watching gigs of bloc party and kings of leon 10 days ago...
Bloc party is awesome live!!! Period!

Kings of leon were kinda...strange...the singer didn't interact with the audience at all...and the audience itself was also very...female and weird...they went totally crazy dancing at the slowest songs...
However, Berlin was nice...awesome currywurst at 1pm and cheap beer everywhere...
Even the house I lived in in east Berlin does still exist;)

But this weekend, kele won against caleb...BIG TIME!

I don't get people...

...who always sit right next to other people on the bus or train...even if the rest of the train is almost empty and has shitoads of free private spaces...
Why are they doing that? Didn't they get enough love and cuddling when they were little?
Or do they just not want to ride backwards?
However, having a nice bagback on the seat next to you always helps...
If not I can always play out good old tourettes syndrom ;)

Too much white shit...

I took this pic last week... It snows too much around here...way too much...
Last Friday I almost missed my train cuz buses just stopped working for half an hour...

Tuesday it got even more creepy... There were like 5cm of really thick snow on my car... Hard to get rid of it...
And it only snowed here where I live... At work there was nothing, which is like 5km away...
I hate snow!

Well, enough boring snow stories... Gottago on being sick ;)

The bigass TV has landed!!!

There he is, my new tv...I had to wait half an hour in an ugly ups shop until a nice black man helped me to put it in the car ;)
My living room is almost only tv now ;)
